Kalispell International Folk Dancers

Hi Everyone,

The mountains are still full of snow and our valley temperatures lately have been in the high forties to low fifties, the snow is gone from our lawns and the grass is green. The leaves on the trees are still in the bud stage. We live in a very beautiful part of the world.

Last year, Don passed on to me a video he took of Dr Jerry Duke teaching Djangurica to the the Montana folk dancers before the Butte Folk festival. There are many Djanguritsa (alternative spelling Dzangurica, Dzhanguritsa) to be found on YouTube. The following might help to sort it all out. The syllabus for Djangurica is close to what everyone seems to be doing, but there are many stylistic differences, and many different energy levels. Yves Moreau has a different Dzhanguritsa all together, the focus is on the way Jerry Duke was doing it, which is closer to the eight videos below:

A few weeks ago, in Eva's mail, "...Marianne has provided cards for each of us to start a list of our favorite dances for requests. Look for the cards and pens on the edge of the stage. Look for the spelling on the computer!" Russ and I just know them so we thought of a few that we hadn't done for a while. Katia (Our Katia, Nashey Kate - Horovodnaya,) Ovcepolsko Oro and Gankino Horo.
