Armenian Wedding (Haire Mamougheh), nice piano music. 1:30 TIFD has this same tune, under the name Hayrer Oo Mamoogner, and played on “primitive” or “native” instruments. (The piano version is so much prettier!) Anyway, the notes from TIFD on Hayrer oo Mamoogner say: “The title is translated fathers and grandmothers. This dance is from Van, Vaspooragan Region. It’s a ritualistic wedding dance with bows honoring the grandmothers of the bride and groom. Grandmothers have been held in high esteem throughout Armenian history.”
Duke of Kent’s Waltz, Mitch Taught.
Lintunen, Finnish wedding dance; It’s top couple sashay down 8 counts and up 8 counts; elbow swing R 8 counts and L 8 counts, then sashay all the way to the bottom of the set, as second couple now becomes top couple and starts the dance. Susan Hinkins taught.
- Hora din Campie
