Hi
Happy Independence Day! Show your independence by joining us for international folk dancing Saturday (tomorrow night), from 8 to 10 p.m., at the Salvation Army Community Center, 110 Bountiful Drive.
Thanks again to everyone who helped with our 10th Annual Stamp & Camp last weekend and for all those who came from far places to share dances and bring goodies for the potluck. Especially Russ & Missy for again procuring the dinner entree and hosting Sunday's breakfast, and Max & Eva for again hosting the dinner Saturday night, and Alan & Sally, who came the farthest to share a new dance from the Eugene group. Sorry we weren't able to join you at the Back Door Sunday night. It's so great to dance with everyone, review old dances we haven't done for a while, and watch some of the amazing dances that I still hope I'll be able to learn some day. Would you believe we did more than 130 dances?!
Next big event will be the Montana Folk Festival in Butte next weekend (July 11-13), with an international dance session Saturday morning that Cecelia is again organizing. This year it returns to St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 N. Idaho St., and typically runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Then at 12:15 p.m. at the Dance Pavilion venue, famed fiddler Alicia Svigals and her Klezmer Fiddle Express will take the stage, with Yiddish dance teacher and performer Steve Weintraub leading and teaching some klezmer-style dance. Should be a terrific event. If you've never been to the Montana Folk Festival, you're missing something special.
