Hello Dancers,
International Folk Dancing in Kalispell Saturday night, Sept. 3, from 8 to 10 p.m., at the
Salvation Army gym, 110 Bountiful Drive. What's a holiday weekend without a little dancing,
wherever you are?
This is the last weekend for summer dance hours. Consensus last week was that
starting Saturday Sept. 10 we will dance from 7 to 10 p.m.
Kathy Neff has announced dates for Contra Dances this winter. On those dates, there will
be Contra Dancing instead of International Dancing at the Salvation Army gym. Dates are:
October 8
Either November 5 or 19 (let her know if you have a preference).
January 14
Feb 11
March 10
April 14
The annual Bear Hug Mountain Festival of Contra Dancing is scheduled Sept. 9 to 11 on
Flathead Lake. Joe Fisher has forwarded the following:
You can still register for an awesome weekend of music, dance, beautiful scenery, and all
around fun.
Musicians this year are Laura Light with the Avant Gardeners, and Eric Anderson with the
Fiddlerats. Callers are Spider Vetter from Sacramento and Susan Petrick from the San Francisco Bay area.
Work scholarships and youth scholarships may still be available.

Reminder: The annual Equinox Celebration - Dancing in the Country gathering at Hallie's
Weather Rock Barn in the Shields Valley north of Bozeman will be Sept. 24, with afternoon
and evening music and dancing.
Here's the schedule:
1 p.m. ENGLISH COUNTRY Dance Party teaching with Mitchell Frey Moscow, (ID)
3 p.m. INTERNATIONAL FOLK Dancing (easy & requests). Bozeman IFD and Cecelia Notess
will organize music.
BREAK - FOR POT LUCK SUPPER, please bring favorite dish or snacks
6:45 p.m. CONTRA DANCE - Chip Jasmine's "Sleeping Child String Band" from
Hamilton, MT. Caller TBA.
SUNDAY EXTRA - breakfast at Hallie's house "Up and At'em" and dancing continues in
the loft for those who care.
Stuff you may already know:
- Soft soled clean shoes for dance floor. Dress for weather changes and cool evenings.
The Barn has woodburning stove and heaters if it turns cold.
- Families with children may also enjoy hikes along farm roads, exploring riparian areas,
open fields for games, kites, frisbee, bubble blowing. Small library and reading spaces at the Barn.
- Fire pit conversation area in the evening - marshmallows, smores, singing
- Early arrivals welcome. Campers are welcome to relax at Weather Rock over the weekend.
Dancing is in the loft or wherever
you feel like dancing! and playing music!
- House has a telephone but there is no cell phone service. Services and convenience store in
Wilsall, 8 mi. down road.
- Please no dogs.
